🧹Sweeping Away Heaviness🧹

A gentle room-cleansing charm for sweeping stale feeling from the corners and sending heaviness out through the threshold.

When to Use This Charm

Use this working when a room feels flat, stale, restless, or burdened, and you want to clear the atmosphere in a simple, practical way.

It is especially helpful after an argument, during a difficult week, after illness, before welcoming fresh energy into the home, or whenever the corners of a room seem to be holding on to old feeling.

You Will Need

  • A hand broom, besom, or ordinary broom
  • A dustpan or small scoop
  • A pinch of dried herbs such as rosemary, lavender, thyme, or bay
  • An open doorway or open window if possible
  • A few quiet moments and a clear intention

The Working

Open the room a little if you can — a door, a window, or both — so that the heaviness has somewhere to go.

Sprinkle a little of your chosen dried herbs lightly around the room, or simply keep them near you as you work. Beginning at the furthest corner, sweep slowly and deliberately toward the doorway.

Pay special attention to the corners, edges, and places where energy seems to gather and linger. As you sweep, imagine the stale feeling loosening, lifting, and moving steadily out of the room.

Gather the last of the sweepings into the dustpan at the threshold and speak the words below.

Sweep from corner, sweep from floor,

Lift the weight and out the door.

Leave this room in lighter peace,

Let all heaviness now release.

To Finish

Take the gathered sweepings outside if you can, or place them in the bin with the clear thought that the heaviness is finished and gone.

Return to the room, pause for a breath, and notice the change. You may wish to light a candle, open the curtains, or place something fresh and comforting in the room afterward.

House note: This is a gentle clearing rather than a harsh banishing. Think of it as tidying the room’s spirit as well as its floor.
