Return to Sender Thread
A simple boundary working that sends unwanted energy back to where it came from, without holding or carrying it yourself.
When to use
When something feels off, heavy, or not yours to carry. This working is useful for lingering interactions, draining conversations, or moments where you feel tangled in someone else’s energy.
You will need
- A small piece of thread, string, or yarn
- Scissors (optional)
- A quiet moment to focus
- Optional: a small stone or charm to hold
Preparation
Hold the thread loosely in your hands. Let it represent any ties, thoughts, or energy that feel connected to you but do not belong with you.
Be clear with yourself: this is not about harm or punishment — only about returning what is not yours.
How to work it
- Hold the thread between both hands, feeling its length and tension.
- Think of the energy or connection you want to release — keep it simple and clear.
- Say quietly: “What is not mine, return. What is mine, remain.”
- Gently pull the thread taut, feeling the separation between you and what you release.
- If using scissors, cut the thread. If not, simply let it fall from your hands.
- Take a breath and imagine your space clearing, the connection dissolving and moving away from you.
To close
Dispose of the thread or set it aside, depending on your preference. Wash your hands or shake them out lightly to mark the end of the working.
A little note
You do not need to hold what was never yours. Returning something is not unkind — it is simply a way of standing back in your own space, with your own energy intact.
Not everything needs to be carried.
